Origin of the trade-union committee of OSACEA
Historically the Trade-union of the workers of education and science of Ukraine began its history in July 1919, when the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Educators and Socialist Culture was formed, bringing together teachers, librarians, educators, scientists, cultural and educational institutions and institutions from all provinces in Ukraine. It was the origin of the Trade-union activity, which had laid the foundation for the entire trade union movement. The further rapid development of education, connected with the final elimination of illiteracy and the introduction of universal compulsory primary education, and it gave the Trade Union of educators new tasks. In this regard, in 1934 the Trade Union of Workers was reorganized. And instead of it the independent trade unions were established in the union republics.
Thus, in 1944 in Odessa Civil Engineering Institute its own primary Trade union organization of workers was founded, which was headed by the Assistant professor of the department of construction Nemkovsky Emmanuil Borisovich. A new stage of activity of the Odessa regional organization of the Trade Union started. That Trade Union always insistently defended the rights of its participants, despite of all difficulties associated with the difficult political and economic situation in the country.
There were many difficulties, but in general the Institute prospered, and also the Trade union movement developed actively. The trade-union committee has always been aware of all events. The members of the trade union committee have had the opportunity to participate regularly in trade-union cultural events - amateur arts festivals, sports competitions of regional and all-Ukrainian scales, excursions.
After the proclamation of Ukraine's independence, the Trade Union of Educators and Science radically changed the model of its activity. It carries out representation and protection of labor, social and economic rights and interests of its members, has a high rating in the legislative and executive authorities, among employers. At present 1247 members of the trade union are registered in the primary trade union organization of the academy staff among the total number of all workers 1328. The organizational structure of the trade-union committee of OSACEA includes 8 structural divisions (4 institutes, 2 faculties, subdivisions of the administration and administrative-economic part), which unite 57 trade-union groups.
But "Trade-union committee" is only a name, an abbreviation without those people, kindred souls and like-minded people that make our academy better and stronger day by day. It will be wrong if we do not say about them. We would like to start to talk about the leaders of the Trade-union committee around which all collective of like-minded people, the entire trade union community always gathers. The first head of the trade union committee was the Associate professor of the construction production department - Nemkovsky Emmanuil Borisovich (1944 -1947).Other heads of it were: Sashin A.A.; Polunin M.M.
